Emergency No Yeast Pizza.

So it's Saturday. Shopping day isn't until Monday. I've run out of food. And do not want to get cheap takeout food. No more chubby food. No!
The only option left seems to be no eating. And then I thought, no. I'll never make it to monday without getting unbearably grouchy.
All I had in the fridge was left over pineapple from a sweet and sour, a lump of cheese and 2 packets of ham for some reason... I got my little head to thinking and came up with pizza! It will keep me going over the weekend, is cheap and uses up all of my weird leftover ingredients.  
Oh bugger, yeast.
Who has yeast kicking about? Nobody. I refuse to walk half an hour to get yeast before shopping day Monday.
But I thought, balls to this. No yeast, no problem. I've made a no yeast dough, substituting in baking soda. It tastes exactly the same. Winning. Student winning.

So here it is, Emergency No Yeast Pizza.  


You will need:

For the base:
235g plain flour
100ml water
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

For the topping:
2 tablespoons tomato puree
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon mixed herbs
Drizzle of olive oil
100g cheese. I've used ordinary cheddar.
1 slice of ham
50g pineapple chunks

Begin by making the dough. There's no leaving to expand faff with this dough so it's super quick to make and use. Don't you just love it. Put all of the dry ingredients into a bowl.


Add in the water. Mix together and knead into a dough.


It's easiest to work your dough on a clean floured surface.


Give your dough some intense kneading attention for two to three minutes. Or just until your arms begin to burn! It should be nice and smooth by the time you're finished with it.


If you're not quite ready to make your pizza this dough freezes and refrigerates well. 


When you're ready to rock, roll out the dough so it's nice and thin.


Drizzle on a little olive oil and use a pastry brush to spread it over all of the base.


Make the tomato sauce by combining the tomato puree, herbs and water. 


Spread all over the pizza. Smells good.


Now grate some cheese. Chuck on. 


Chop up the ham. Chuck on.


And pineapples? Chuck on. 


Looking good. Whack in a preheated oven for 15 minutes at 190c.


Slice up and serve. If you're trying to survive for 2 more days with no food, don't call your friends and share. If that's not the case, you really should share. 


Good stuff. Student food with a twist - just omit the dominoes menu add a couple of pounds to the purse. Bellissima!
